Is it just me or does it never seem like there’s enough time?
Between working, commuting, cooking, shopping, cleaning and other regular tasks one takes on as an adult, actual free time feels an incredible luxury. And that’s not considering those with children or balancing multiple jobs.
Yet we’re told to get plenty of exercise, eat a balanced diet, have 8 hours of sleep, read more, meditate and start a side hustle. Also, be sure to focus on maintaining a good social structure to keep yourself sane. But avoid caffeine because it affects your sleep.
I’m starting to think those who preach this don’t have regular day jobs. At least not the kind that keeps you out of the house for 10-plus hours a day.
Then again, maybe they aren’t. We all know stories of the single mother who works a full-time job while getting a degree. Or the day-job worker who builds a start-up in his spare time.
Maybe there’s a trick. Or maybe the rest of us get too focused on getting everything right all the time. When instead, we should be focusing on the baby steps.
A bit more sleep here and there. Sacrifice some when you are working on something that needs more time. Meditate when you can without the guilt of skipping a few days. Read more but don’t focus on crushing four books a month.
There’s never going to be enough time, not if you’re trying to go from zero-to-sixty.
Start with zero-to-one.
