Travel

Nearly every important decision I've made in my adult life has been affected by travel.

I've changed careers to allow more freedom to travel. Years later, I sold nearly everything I owned to travel the world for an unknown period of time.

So far, I've travelled 40 countries and lived in 7.

Many of the most profound experiences I've had in life have been on the road.

I've lived in cars, slept on airport floors and shared beds with giant spiders, cockroaches and bedbugs. I've been pickpocketed and stalked by strangers. I've been crippled by illness on multiple occasions — one of which nearly killed me.

I've leapt from bridges, swam with sharks, and meditated with Buddhist monks in a mountaintop monastery.

I've seen the physical scars of unimaginable horrors and shared laughter with those who lived through the events that caused them.

I've eaten raw horse heart, live octopus, fermented shark, and bugs of all kinds.

Pain and discomfort included, these are some of the best experiences of my life.

And I anticipate the weirdness and chaos will only continue.

Travel Websites

I own and operate two travel websites.

I launched These Foreign Roads with my wife back in 2017 after we sold nearly everything we owned to travel the world. It covers travel in general, including guides, stories and experiences from most of the countries we've visited. But the majority of the travel guides are focused on Colombia, Romania, Morocco, Guatemala and Moldova.

In 2022 I started Everything El Salvador as a spin-off of main travel website. Few people were covering the country and we had extensive experience there. The idea to launch a destination-specific site came when I predicted that El Salvador would adopt Bitcoin as legal currency (just weeks before President Bukele announced it!) We were already receiving a ton of traffic to those specific guides and I knew this announcement would be massive for tourism.

Travel Photos

These are some of my favourite photos from most of the countries I've visited.

They're not necessarily my best photos, nor ones that give a typical representation of the country. But they're the ones that stir some of the most profound memories for me.

Some countries, for one reason or another, I don't have a favourite.
