Writing Too Fast

One of the biggest problems about posting a daily blog is that I often spend little time editing.

There are days when my bank of drafts runs dry and I need to put something together quickly. These days I often take Seth Godin’s approach of just ship it.

Days or weeks later, I’ll revisit the post out of curiosity and find a glaring error. It’s rarely grammar or spelling-related —- the reality is typically far worse.

Most of the time, the error in question has to do with a lack of detail or context that throws off the entire idea of the post. After reading, I realize that the message I hoped to convey was lost -— at worst, I gave the opposite.

And as much as I try to keep ahead of drafts, allowing me to revisit before publishing, it won’t always be the case.

The best I can do is hone my ability to notice these errors as they occur.

Not weeks later.
