Whiteout

It looks like winter again.

The view from the balcony right now is white. Trees, buildings, roads, they’re a mishapen grey blur through the filter of blowing snow.

Everyone is talking about it. Everyone is complaining.

But not me.

It’s March in Alberta. This happens.

We’re on the cusp of spring, it’s literally days away. This apocalyptic blizzard will be all but forgotten by next week.

Rather than focusing on the treacherous drive to work tomorrow, I think of how badly we need the moisture. I consider how much greener the landscapes will be, and how bright the flowers will explode with colour.

I wouldn’t have reacted the same to this a few months ago.

But this isn’t then.

This is now.
