The Final

As someone who isn’t a huge hockey fan, I am absolutely stoked right now.

The Edmonton Oilers — my local hockey team — are going into the final game of the Stanley Cup finals. If you aren’t from North America, this is the final game possible in the entire NHL. Whoever wins tonight is the league champion.

I can’t remember when the city was this alive, this electric with energy and positive vibes. This run has evaporated so many barriers between people both socially and politically. And as someone barely old enough to remember when the Oilers were bringing Stanley Cups home on the regular, there’s a touch of deep-rooted nostalgia about this.

But that was many years ago.

The fact that we’re here once more doesn’t feel real.

Tonight is going to be massive.
