Selfish

We often look at selfishness as a negative. From a young age, we’re taught not to be selfish. As adults, we pass on the same advice to children.

The problem is that we only see it from one side.

Selfishness is not inherently bad. Being selfish at the expense of others is, sure, but not selfishness as a concept.

Saying no when you know you don’t have it in you — taking time for yourself, to rest and recharge — this is selfish. Focusing your energy inward rather than sharing it is another kind of selfishness.

Any time you do something to heal yourself, to better yourself, or otherwise improve your mental state, is selfish.

Be more selfish.
