It all started with a discussion at work last week. A colleague asked me about my unpopular food opinion.

I said that hotdogs are sandwiches. And while this one is fairly evenly split, it led to further discussion.

As it turns out, this humble opinion opened a can of worms that has evolved into some questionable views on food, a critique of the world’s two most prominent English dictionaries, and a dilemma on what exactly defines a sandwich.

Is a club sandwich a sandwich? Is a taco a sandwich? Is a pizza?

Yes — and no. But also, only one or the other. And that depends…
