Permission to Change

You don’t need permission to change your mind.

Many people tend to share the viewpoints of their friends or the people they work with. Often they’re the same thing. These views can be social, political or ideological.

We share these ideas because we find ourselves in an echo chamber. We hear one version of a story or one side of an argument far more often than its counterpart. And once these beliefs are ingrained in us, they’re constantly reinforced by those around us.

Still, deep down we know when we discover a truth that counters our beliefs. But too often, we don’t accept it fully because we know the criticism we’ll receive from those close to us.

However, to grow as a person, to stay true to yourself and become better for humanity as a whole, you must be willing to change your beliefs.

Don’t wait for permission from your friends, family or colleagues. If they’re good people, they’ll respect you for your ability to grow.

Changing your mind is a sign of strength.

Own that choice.
