Geek Time

It’s a good time to be a comic book geek. It has been for the last decade.

While I haven’t read comics in years, the stories and characters are nostalgic. And, growing up, most of the movie adaptations were trash.

This is often blamed on the lack of CGI back in the day. And sure, it plays a part. Special effects have helped the industry.

But really, it’s because the people making them were clueless non-fans. They were a bunch of suits looking to capitalize on the popularity. They didn’t know the canon, they didn’t appreciate what the fans wanted.

That didn’t happen until the fans grew up — until the fans wore suits — becoming the ones making the movies.

Everything changed with the first Iron Man. Every geek felt it, but couldn’t quite put their finger on it.

By the time we had Endgame, we lived in another universe. As if Thanos’ snap had simply ashed a generation of sad excuses for superhero movies.

The geeks have grown up. They’re in control now.

I’ve not held back on my excitement for Deadpool & Wolverine. The geek in me is strong with these two characters.

If ever there was a time in history for this movie to be made, it’s now.
