A few days ago a friend mentioned something about one of my recent posts. She said that waking during the night can be an enjoyable experience, because the blocks imposed by life weaken a little.
This is something I think I’ve always known, but not something I’d really considered until it was pointed out.
It’s the reason that I do my best creative work when I can’t sleep, or first thing in the morning. It’s why I don’t check social media or email until after at least two hours of deep work.
The outside world affects the way we think, even if only a little.
So while that world is necessary and inevitable, it’s important to embrace the moments when you are apart from it — when your mind can fly freely.
