A lot of people hate downtown. It’s loud, busy, chaotic, and too hard to get around.

The majority of my coworkers fit into this category. Either living in the suburbs or the smaller towns surrounding the city, they can’t stand coming downtown.

The rest, those who don’t share the hateful sentiments, are often those who have lived there.

I love it downtown. I’ve lived here on and off for many years. And I don’t see it as loud or chaotic. I don’t have trouble getting around.

However, I find suburbia boring.

Once again, perspective is everything.

When you surround yourself with calm and quiet, a more dynamic and frantic environment can feel like pure madness.

And when you’re surrounded by constant energy, anything else feels dull.
