Back At It

The last few weeks have been busy. A trip to Belize, several celebrations with friends, and a trip to Toronto for my wife’s birthday.

Combine the intake of food and drink with a recent shoulder injury, and my exercise routine has fallen apart.

Preaching about the benefits of exercise is cliché. We all know it. Whether we adopt a habit is another story. But there’s no denying it.

Still, having gotten back into my routine over the last few days, I’m stunned at how powerful even a little activity can be. Running has been at a slower pace, and I’m easing back into certain movements at the gym. But I feel better than I have in weeks.

Understandably, my baseline has dropped. The endorphins are more easily triggered. But that doesn’t take away from the effects.

If you’re feeling low, move a little and lift some heavy things. It’s the easiest way to get out of a rut.
