Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, Barack Obama, and me.
We all share something in common: how we dress for work.
Automation is the key to freeing up time. And maximizing time for things I care about has always been important.
For years, I’ve worn the same thing to work nearly every day: jeans and a black shirt.
Although the decision-making process is negligible, having this routine saves time every workday. I don’t need to waste any time deciding what to wear. And only recently did I learn that I shared this habit with the three individuals I mentioned at the top.
Another place I use this method is in making my lunch. I pack the same three snacks every day, the only thing that varies is my main meal. This not only cuts down on decision-making, but also speeds up meal prep and saves on groceries.
While these simple routines aren’t fully automated, they do automate the decision-making process — freeing up time for things that matter.
