I have a sticky note on the side of my monitor with the word “Why” written on it.
I recently read Start with Why by Simon Sinek. At its core, it’s a business book that encourages focusing on the why — the underlying reason for your endeavour.
It’s a single word and a powerful question.
And like a curious toddler, I apply it to everything.
Every time I sit down to code, write this blog, or edit photos, I ask myself why. Why am I doing this thing?
And if I don’t have a good answer, I stop.
I do my best to apply this to every aspect of my life. Because it’s so easy to do things for the sake of doing. We tell ourselves that doing something is better than doing nothing.
But, as we know deep down, that isn’t true.
If you don’t have a why — don’t.
