Back to Routine

Sometimes I need routine. Other times, my routine gets stale and I need more spontaneity.

To everything, there is a season. And January is one for routine. But it has nothing to do with resolutions.

December is a lot. There’s my friend’s annual Christmas bash, then it’s my birthday weekend. Soon after, is Christmas and all of the peripheral events that come with it. And just when it seems to be over, there’s New Year’s.

Throughout it all, I’m still trying to keep up on projects while trying to remain as social as possible.

Needless to say, there are sacrifices.

Running, yoga, meditation, time in the gym… not to mention diet — they all fall to the sidelines in December.

This is why I welcome a return to routine in January. Routine is a way of forcing myself back into the habits that I’ve built over the last couple of years, but have let slip a little during the past few weeks.
