One of my favourite parts about living downtown is that a lot of my close friends live nearby.
This situation is unique. Most people don’t live within walking distance of their social group.
“Let’s grab a quick pint” is a common text that I receive. And while the intent is literal, more often than not it leads to late nights sitting around someone’s kitchen table with a bunch of friends discussing everything from politics to technology to life in general.
And then we all walk home, knowing that it will probably happen again in a few days.
It’s such a common theme that I often worry about taking it for granted. That’s why I like to pause on occasion and think about it, to acknowledge the fortune of my situation and to be grateful for it.
