Even while removing media from my life this month I learned of the US election results before finishing my first coffee this morning. Considering it’s the most talked about election in recent history, I’m not surprised.

Also unsurprising to me are the results. Most of me expected this outcome.

Whether I hoped for it or dreaded it is irrelevant. I wasn’t emotionally invested enough on either side to care. Regardless of whether this has any impact on my life in Canada is a moot point — I had no say in the outcome, so why worry about it?

What’s done is done. What happens over the next four years will be seen only as it unfolds.

Until then, I hope both sides can move forward and find some way to work together.

Now that would be surprising.
