Routine Change

I’ve touched on routines in several posts — I’ve mentioned their importance, and the benefits of breaking them on occasion.

Something that I learned this year is that changing my routine during different months is a nice marriage of both.

Because both routine and novelty are important, and by definition, they cannot coexist, I try not to stick to any specific routine for too long.

During the summer, it lasts a little longer. In November, I make a few specific changes and focus on other projects. December and January will be something a little different. February is my strict month… and so on.

This allows me to reap the benefits of routine while also switching things up by adding novelty every few weeks or so.

I’ve been doing this unintentionally for the last couple of years but only thought about it today. And I think I will put more effort into regular routine change going forward.
