Oasis

So the brothers Gallagher are getting together for a reunion tour.

I’ve never been a massive Oasis fan, but I enjoy their music. And I would absolutely love to see them live.

Their recent announcement of a British tour has piqued my interest. And while I try to avoid mid-summer trips outside of Canada — bike season is short — I’m teasing the idea.

I’ve wanted to visit Scotland for as long as I can remember, so the Edinburgh show would be nice. The Cardiff show would be pretty cool too. I’ve never visited Wales, and Cardiff is close to my old stomping grounds in Bristol — so bonus to be able to once again enjoy the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Then again, seeing one of the greatest English bands in history play Wembley Stadium would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. So there’s that.

The problem is that I’ve got a better chance of ROI with an Angel Investment than I do of seeing this concert. Liam and Noel are narcissistic egomaniacs. They barely tolerated each other for the lifespan of their band — Oasis broke up because they couldn’t stop fist-fighting backstage. The idea that they’ve buried the hatchet is lovely but difficult to accept.

And as hopeful as I am that I’m wrong, I’m not willing to take the risk.

Concert tickets are refundable. Airfare and hotels are not.
