The brain is a wild and fascinating thing.
I had a dream last night in which I sent a GoPro over the edge of a tall cliff to observe the fall later. After hiking down and collecting it from the gorge below, I turned the screen towards me and hit play.
As soon as the screen showed the first-person view of going over the edge, I woke up suddenly in that panicked state that happens when one dreams of falling.
After the initial confusion wore off, I found it equally hilarious and fascinating.
The brain is such a complex piece of biology that it can trick itself into a physical and emotional reaction based on a video of something falling — inside of a scenario that it created.
The inner science of it all is beyond my realm, and I would love to do a deep dive into neuroscience, but I know if I want to peek behind the wizard’s curtain.
I like the mystery of it all.
