Rogue Wave

My wife and I recently spend a weekend in Toronto, eating and drinking our way around the city. And it was made even more interesting by a bit of news I received while conveniently sitting down for an afternoon pint.

Many of you know that just over a year ago, after a decades-long search, I made contact with my birth mother. After that, I decided to pause my family search, rest, to take some time to focus on this new relationship.

However, it turns out that I wasn’t the only one searching.

I received a message from a half-sister on my birth father’s side. Until that moment, I knew next to nothing about that side of my biological family — let alone that I had a sister.

Information rolled in like a rogue wave and rolled me over as they tend to do. I’ve had some time to process it over the last couple of weeks and I’m excited to wander this new path.

Needless to say, I ordered a second pint with haste.
