On Being Interesting

I like thinking about perspective.

I was talking to a friend today about a recent event in my life. He commented on how interesting my life is.

My experience, while I see its uniqueness, isn’t something I’ve ever looked at as overly interesting. But that’s perspective.

I don’t own a house, I don’t have kids. There are a lot of life experiences that I don’t have — that I likely won’t ever have.

Every one of us can say something similar.

I don’t know the source but I love the idea that every time we say “yes” to something, we are saying “no” to something else. Another opportunity, a separate path, a different future.

Our experiences are unique to ourselves. It doesn’t feel interesting, it just is.

When I see a life that I consider interesting, it’s likely that the one living it likely doesn’t see it that way. At least not from their perspective.
