When it Rains

Life tends to throw curveballs in batches and kick us when we’re down.

Every so often we’re assaulted from all sides with frustration, pain and stress. One thing piles on to the next and we find ourselves drowning in overwhelm.

Just when we think things can’t get any worse, enter the flat tire, car accident, job loss, or family emergency.

When it rains, it pours, as the saying goes.

It could be that in our overwhelmed state, we make mountains out of every new molehill. But every so often, it seems as though a lot of bad things happen in a short window of time.

Maybe the universe is testing our resolve.

Maybe it’s just a part of life.

Regardless of how you try and justify the inevitable strings of bad luck, you can do little to prevent it. As with anything else, it will pass.

American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow said it best.

For after all, the best thing one can do when it is raining is let it rain.
