Consistency.

I despise waking up early. That’s why I do it as often as possible.

It’s no secret that consistency is a key to progress and success. It’s why good habits are preached by highly successful entrepreneurial types.

And they’re right.

When the alarm goes off at 3:30, I know that I can smash the snooze button and sleep for another two hours. I don’t start my day job until 7. I have plenty of time.

Why would I want to leave the comfort of my warm bed, swaddled in soft blankets? Why wouldn’t I want to maximize my hours of rest before talking on another work day?

Because I’m a morning person.

I like to walk alone down empty streets to clear my head. My creative mind is sharpest in the early hours. I do better work.

Getting out of bed is rarely easy, especially when I’m not consistent. But when I get into a rhythm, when my body clock is in tune, I’ll be up and stretching before my 3:30 alarm rings.

It only takes a few days to get into this state. It’s fascinating how quickly the body learns and adapts.

But it works both ways.

That’s why consistency is so important.

Colourful hand making a peace sign.
